FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Dental Care

Question: How do you remove stains from home?

Answer: Did you know we have an at-home system that offers dramatic results, with smiles often brightened by several shades? When you come to the office initially, we create a set of custom-made plastic trays and prescribe a bleaching gel. You then return home, where you will wear the gel-filled trays daily for about 30 to 45 minutes. The trays hold the gel in place and spread it evenly across your smile. Optimal results usually take between one and two weeks. The system is also designed to minimize tooth sensitivity during use!

Question: Will bonding fix chipped teeth in one visit?

Answer: Dental bonding employs the same composite resin we use for our tooth-colored fillings, a metal-free blend of quartz-like and acrylic compounds. After we clean your damaged tooth, we will apply the material in several layers. We always shade the material to help ensure it blends with the tooth. We then shape the tooth as we cure the composite resin under a light, finishing the treatment by polishing your tooth. Bonding not only repairs chipped teeth in one visit, but also closes gaps between teeth and masks teeth stains.

Question: What benefits do veneers offer?

Answer: A veneer is a very thin shell of porcelain, one we place over the front and sides of the teeth. The restoration is designed to mimic the appearance of tooth enamel and is often shaded to better match your teeth. Once in place, they repair minor damage, mask teeth stains, close exposed gaps between teeth, and may even correct the appearance of misalignment, all in just two visits.

Question: How do clear braces correct misalignment?

Answer: Instead of metal braces, we may help you achieve a straighter smile using clear braces made from a BPA-free acrylic material. A set is worn daily for about two weeks before patients move on to the next in the series, gradually and comfortably correcting misalignment in about a year. If you have any questions about our clear aligners or any of our other esthetic treatments, then contact our team today.
