Huzzah! The Kansas City Renaissance Festival opens on September 2nd. The Kansas City tradition is now in its 41st season of opening. It will be open this year during weekends through October 15th. There will also be special holiday Monday openings on both Labor Day and Columbus Day. The grounds will be in Bonner Springs, and the festival will stay open in rain or shine. The Kansas City Renaissance Festival started in September of 1977. It has grown to become one of the largest renaissance festivals in America with nearly 200,000 people attending each season. The festival is like time-traveling back to the simpler yet exciting 16th century. There will be Jousting Knights, music, comedy, and magic for entertainment for all ages. There will be 20 stages filled with fun experiences. There will also be games and rides for everyone to participate in, as well as exhibits like Mermaid Cove and Fairy Forest. Feasts of delicious food and drink from all over the globe will be available. There will be village shops filled with unique and handmade artisan crafts. Crafts that include leatherwork, paintings, hand-blown glass, and crafted metal. Everyone in the family can find something delightful on the 16-acre festival grounds. There are even opportunities for specially planned birthday parties, gatherings, and weddings at the Festival itself. Throughout the Festival, there will be weekends with special themes, such as Shamrocks & Shenanigans and Wine & Romance Delight, which will include contests and games for couples.
